The Angolan Foreign Ministry will seek to keep diplomatic action focused on attracting private foreign investment in order to help the ongoing process of economic diversification, Foreign Minister, Manuel Augusto wrote.

In a message on Angolan Diplomat Day, which was celebrated on Tuesday, the minister also said that Angola’s strategy of promoting the country and making it more internationally competitive will continue and take full advantage of international cooperation, “so as to continue to increase the quality of life of Angolans.”

In a speech on the State of the Nation, delivered by the Angolan President on 15 October, João Lourenço stressed that economic diplomacy has raised more than US$11 billion, split into direct financing from financial institutions and loans from countries with which Angola has privileged cooperation, such as the USA, China, Portugal, France and the United Kingdom.

Angolan Diplomat Day was adopted in 2010 by the 4th Consultative Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, because 12 November 1975 was the date the first Government of the People’s Republic of Angola was formed and of the creation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
