ENI East Africa – Mozambique Branch, a Mozambican subsidiary of Italian group ENI, plans to hire ships and waste management companies for oil and gas exploration operations in Area A5-A of the Angoche basin, northern Mozambique, according to an announcement published on Monday in the Mozambican press.

Drilling of the first hydrocarbon well in that area of Nampula province is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021, with the Italian group leading operations as it controls a 34% stake, after in March 2019 it sold a 25.5% stake to the Qatar Petroleum group.

The announcement said the company intends to hire supply services for two supply vessels to its offshore gas production platform and one optional vessel to assist operations in Area A5-A, according to daily Mozambican newspaper O País.

The ships will transport drilling materials, equipment, cargo and supplies between the port of Pemba and Area A5-A offshore drilling facilities, as well as on-site drilling platform activities.

The announcement also said that ENI East Africa – Mozambique Branch intends to hire companies for solid waste management in its operations in the Angoche and Larde block.
