[2019-07-05] Delegation from Tianjin visits the port of Lisbon, Portugal

A delegation of 10 people from the municipality and the port of Tianjin recently visited the port of the Portuguese capital where it was received by the president of the Port of Lisbon, Lídia Sequeira, the port’s management company said.

Led by the deputy mayor of Tianjin, the Chinese delegation addressed issues such as the management and operation of the port, the relationship with various players in the port operation and the efficiency of the logistics chain in the goods area, along with the operation of cruise ship activity in Lisbon.

The demonstration of the JUP application and its change into to the Single Logistics Window was of particular interest to the delegation and it showed great interest in the establishment of future cooperation partnerships.

The port of Tianjin, formerly known as Tanggu, is the largest seaport in northern China and the main sea route to the capital Beijing.

The Chinese government recently announced that it was interested in investing in a new container terminal in the port of Sines, south of Lisbon, which would become part of the New Silk Road project.
