Angola is one of the invited countries of the first edition of the China-Africa Trade and Economic Exhibition, to be held from 26 to 18 June, 2019 in Changsha, in the Chinese province of Hunan, Angolan news agency Angop reported.

He said the information had been provided on Thursday in Beijing during a meeting that the Angolan ambassador to China, João Salvador dos Santos Neto, had with Deputy Director General of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Haiyan.

At the meeting, which analysed official visits between Angola and China, Guo Haiyan said the Angolan delegation to the event had already confirmed its presence with a multi-sector delegation headed by Minister of Trade Joffre Van-Dúnem Junior.

The other countries that are guests of honour at the 2019 Hunan Expo are Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda.

The Deputy Director-General for African Affairs also reported that the Chinese government is due to hold a meeting of coordinators of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) in Beijing in July, in which Angola will be represented by a secretary of state.

Angola is China’s main economic partner in Africa and, in recent years, trade between the two countries has increased sharply, although two-way trade is still very focused on oil, with the value of trade exceeding US$26 billion in 2018.
