[2019-05-17] China was Angola’s main trading partner in 2018

China was the main destination for Angola’s exports in 2018, with a share of 60.28%, according to the Yearbook of External Trade Statistics released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) in Luanda.

INE also reported that India came in second place with a share of 9.27%, followed by the United States with 3.35%, Spain with 3.04% and South Africa with 2.82%.

China was also Angola’s largest supplier, with a share of 14.56% of imports, followed by Portugal with 13.67%, Singapore with 9.64%, Belgium with 6.54% and Togo with 5.95%.

The “Fuels” product group accounted for 95.67% of total Angolan exports, while in imports the most important products were “Machinery and Equipment and Appliances” (19.48%), “Fuels” (15.09% ), “Agricultural” (14.96%), “Vehicles and Other Means of Transport” (13.92%) and “Chemicals” (7.70%).

The final results of Foreign Trade published by INE show that there was an annual increase of 76.87% in exports and 58.69% in imports, and a surplus of 6.234 trillion kwanzas (US$18.994 billion).
