The consortium led by the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation on 18 June in Maputo will announce the final investment decision for the natural gas exploration project in the Rovuma basin, the group announced in a statement issued in the Mozambican capital.

The statement, issued after the President held an audience with the chief executive of the US group, Al Walker, said that all issues to be negotiated with the Mozambican government had been resolved to the satisfaction of both sides.

Walker had earlier announced that activities in northern Mozambique for exploration of natural gas deposits in Area 1 of the Rovuma basin would resume on Wednesday after President Filipe Nyusi gave him guarantees of security.

The group decided to suspend activities last February after an armed attack occurred in the region of Palma, in Cabo Delgado province, which killed one worker and injured six others.

The Area 1 block is operated by Anadarko Mozambique Area 1, Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Anadarko Petroleum group, with a 26.5% stake, ENH Rovuma Area One, a subsidiary of state-owned Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, with 15%, Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area1 Ltd(20%), ONGC Videsh Ltd. (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Limited (10%), BPRL Ventures Mozambique BV (10%), and PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 Limited (8.5%).
