The Brazilian federal government will have an ombudsman to receive foreign investors, whose role will be exercised by the Executive Office of the Chamber of Foreign Trade (Camex), according to the Camex website.

The Direct Investment Ombudsman (OID) will be responsible for receiving inquiries and requests for information on investment-related matters, which will be answered in conjunction with other government agencies (federal, state and municipal) involved in each case.

“This new structure provides the necessary support to the investor, centralised in a single body, that should give timely answers to the questions asked,” said the OID website – http://oid.economia.gov.br/pt.

The OID is responsible for supporting and guiding investors, clarifying doubts and recommending solutions to the issues presented and proposing to the government institutions and/or agencies possible improvements in the adopted legislation or administrative procedures.

The purpose of the Camex Foreign Trade Chamber of the Presidency of the Republic is to formulate, adopt, implement and coordinate policies and activities related to foreign trade in goods and services, including tourism, in order to promote foreign trade, investment and the country’s international competitiveness.
