Angolan flagship airline TAAG on Friday is due to relaunch the link between Luanda and the island of Sal in Cabo Verde after a suspension of about three years due to a lack of profitability of the destination, an airline source said in the Angolan capital.

The connection to the island of Sal will be made with a stopover in São Tomé, capital of São Tomé and Príncipe, twice a week, on Friday and Sunday, using a B737-700 aeroplane, with the capacity to carry 120 passengers.

When the plane arrives on Sal on Friday, TAAG and Cabo Verde Airlines representatives will sign a code-sharing agreement, under which the two airlines will share the same flight, the same service standards and the same sales channels.

The Transport Minister of Angola, Ricardo Viegas D’Abreu and the Cape Verdean Minister of Tourism and Transport and Minister of the Maritime Economy, José da Silva Gonçalves, signed a memorandum of understanding in Praia in November 2018 in the area of sea and transport.
