[2019-02-18] Government of Mozambique to launch public tender for management of Beira fishing port

The Mozambican government plans to launch a public tender for the management of Beira’s fishing port this year, according to Rádio Moçambique.

The announcement was made by the Deputy Minister of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries Henriques Bongece during a visit to the port.

The Mozambican government recently invested US$120 million in the refurbishment of the port, which now has the capacity to receive 16 fishing boats at the same time.

Bongece said that the revitalization of the port has allowed fishing boats, particularly tuna boats, to land fish more easily, which is a substantial improvement for the economy of Beira province.
