The Industrial Development Institute of Angola (IDIA) took delivery of the concession on the Fútila Industrial Hub, in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Industry, Bernarda Martins, the Angolan press reported.

The Fútila Industrial Hub was created in 1996, through an initial allocation of US$37 million, with the aim of driving the economic development of the independent province of Cabinda beyond oil exploration.

Located in the village of Malembo, in an area of 2,344 hectares, the Fútila Hub comprises three phases, the first of which is the construction of infrastructure, according to the Angop news agency.

The visit by minister Bernarda Martins to Cabinda also coincided with issuing an industrial license for the province, through the online Industrial Licensing System (Silai).

After receiving its license, the province of Cabinda, along with Luanda and Bengo, will be able to independently grant industrial permits, and this is also expected to be rolled out to other provinces.

Silai is an innovative tool that has been in place since July 2017 and reduces bureaucracy in issuing industrial licenses to interested parties.

The license issued by Silai has a specific design and offers advantages such as a single bar code, a safety hologram and watermarks that minimise the possibility of falsification.
