Company Statistics for the 3rd Quarter 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,426 new companies were incorporated in the third quarter of 2019, an increase of 6 year-on-year. Total value of registered capital soared by 111.2% to MOP536 million, attributable to the incorporation of new companies with large capital in Financial Services. Analysed by industry, there were 501 newly incorporated companies operating in Wholesale & Retail and 322 in Business Services. Meanwhile, companies in dissolution totalled 225 in the third quarter, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to MOP45 million.

Analysed by size of registered capital, there were 1,025 new companies (71.9% of total) registered with capital under MOP50,000, and the total value of capital was MOP26 million. On the other hand, there were 22 new companies registered with capital of MOP1 million or more, and the total value of capital amounted to MOP454 million (84.7% of total).

As regards the origin of capital of the new companies, mainland China contributed MOP440 million, of which MOP402 million came from Beijing and MOP19 million from the mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area. Meanwhile, capital from Macao and Hong Kong amounted to MOP67 million and MOP26 million respectively. Analysed by combination of shareholders, there were 950 new companies established solely by Macao shareholders, and 172 joint ventures between shareholders from Macao and other countries or regions.

In the first three quarters of 2019, a total of 4,704 new companies were incorporated, up by 111 year-on-year; total value of registered capital leapt by 455.4% to MOP4 billion. Number of companies in dissolution totalled 646, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to MOP202 million.

At the end of the third quarter of 2019, number of registered companies totalled 70,243, an increase of 5,208 from a year earlier.
