As regards origin of capital, mainland China contributed MOP 128 million to the capital of newly incorporated companies. Analysed by province/municipality, capital from Shanghai amounted to MOP34 million; capital from Guangdong totalled MOP59.7 million, of which the Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area contributed MOP59.5 million (with 59.5% from Zhuhai). Meanwhile, capital from Singapore and Macao stood at MOP80 million and MOP65 million respectively. With respect to the combination of shareholders, 994 companies were established solely by Macao shareholders, while 122 were joint ventures between shareholders from Macao and other countries or regions.
Analysed by size of registered capital, there were 993 new companies registered with capital under MOP50,000 (71.2% of total), and the total value of capital was MOP26 million (7.0% of total). Meanwhile, 27 new companies were registered with capital of MOP1 million or over, and the total value of capital amounted to MOP277 million (74.9%).
In the first three quarters of 2021, there were 4,352 newly incorporated companies, an increase of 4.7% year-on-year; total value of registered capital surged by 76.6% to MOP820 million. Number of companies in dissolution totalled 634, and the value of registered capital of these companies amounted to MOP282 million.
At the end of the third quarter of 2021, total number of registered companies in Macao was 80,170.
