[2021/09/30] IPIM Organises Online Training Session to Help Local Enterprises Improve E-marketing Capabilities

To help expand the market for “Made in Macao”, “Macao Brand” and “Macao Design” products through e-commerce and new retail models, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) held the “E-marketing Training Session for Enterprises of Macao Ideas” on 28 September and invited industry representatives to share their online marketing skills and knowledge about trademark in Mainland China, attracting over 50 representatives from Macao enterprises to join the session. Participating enterprise representatives commented that the training session was practical and could facilitate their brand to enter the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area market.

The training session was organised by IPIM and co-organised by the Macau Youth Entrepreneur Association and the Macau Chain Stores and Franchise Association. Executive Director of IPIM Vincent U said in his speech that since its establishment in 2011, Macao Ideas has been striving to establish itself as a display platform and business matching channel for “Made in Macao”, “Macao Brand” and “Macao Design” products. To date, a total of 154 local enterprises have joined Macao Ideas and, with its support, they have been spreading their brand concepts and exploring broader markets through various methods, such as business matching and promotional graphics and videos. Lee Koi Ian, President of the Macau Youth Entrepreneur Association indicated that live commerce has brought new business opportunities to Macao enterprises, and hopes that the event can encourage more enterprises to explore the mainland market through online platforms. Wong Ian Man, President of the Macau Chain Stores and Franchise Association, said that at present, famous e-commerce platforms in the mainland normally take trademark registration as one of the compulsory requirements for the selection of participating companies, and hopes that enterprises will seize the opportunities and prepare well to protect their brands before starting their e-marketing campaigns.

Lee Koi Meng, Vice Chair of the Board of the Macau Youth Entrepreneur Association, and Dong Yidong, Director and Principal Partner of the Guangdong Pacific United Law Firm, served as key speakers and used different cases to on various subjects such as the advantages and points-to-note of online marketing, live commerce technics knowledge of trademark and copyright in the mainland. Some Macao Ideas enterprises that had conducted live-stream marketing also shared their experience and insights during the event. A participating enterprise representative said that the training session was practical and allowed them to gain in-depth knowledge of e-marketing, live commerce strategies and the system of registering intellectual property in the mainland, which helped the brands enter the market of the Greater Bay Area.

In the future, IPIM will continue to hold more online and offline business-themed talks and activities that cover the Greater Bay Area market, marketing strategies and thematic business matching, with an aim of facilitating innovation and transformation of Macao enterprises to seize business opportunities.
