News: [2017/05/31] Over a hundred domestic and overseas leaders from governments, industries and academia will gather at the 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum to share their visions

“The 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum” (hereinafter “The 8th IIICF”) will be held tomorrow (1st June) in Macao Venetian – Resort – Hotel. Six important guests including the leaders from the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), international financial institutions, and the senior management of the world’s top equipment manufacturing enterprises have been invited to deliver keynote speeches. In this 2-day forum, a total number of 14 thematic forums or concurrently run forums will be held, and over a hundred domestic and overseas leaders from governments, industries and academia will be invited to share their visions.

The Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, Macao SAR government, and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region are the advisers of “The 8th IIICF”. China International Contractors Association and Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute will be the co-organisers. The theme is: “Collaboratively build a diversified, innovative, and sustainable infrastructure with industry connectivity”.

The organisers have invited six important guests to deliver keynote speeches after the opening ceremony on 1 June. They are: Yu Jianhua, Vice Minister and Deputy China International Trade Representative, Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, Hartwig Schafer, Vice President, Operations Policy and Country Services, World Bank, Rafael C. Yabut, Senior Undersecretary, Department of Public Works and Highways, the Philippines, Ding Xiangqun, Vice President, China Development Bank, Sun Ping, Vice President, The Export-Import Bank of China, and Tomas Kuta, Senior Vice President of Sales, Volvo Construction Equipment.

On the afternoon of the first day, two thematic forums will be held, and 12 similar forums will be held on 2 June. The forums will be about the path of transformative, innovative and sustainable infrastructure development, common and connected development of infrastructure and industries, Latin American infrastructure interconnection, and high-level dialogues between organisations concerning the transformation and innovation of the financing model and business model in co-operation in the international infrastructure facilities. They are primarily concerned with infrastructure construction, the development of inter-industrial connectivity, the sustainable development of infrastructure facilities, and key regional and foreign markets, in order to advance the progress of key issues such as practical collaboration in international infrastructure. Over a hundred government officials and representatives of enterprises from countries and regions along the route of “The Belt and Road”, representatives of international financial institutions and large ENR250 international contractors, executives of international consultation institutions, executives of project equipment manufacturers, and executives of professional institutions will be the speakers.

Macao’s role in the Realisation of the common development with the services platform for commercial co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries

In particular, in the “Seminar on Industrial Capacity and Financial Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, which will be held on 2 June, eight middle and high-ranking government officials from Portuguese-speaking Countries have been invited to take part. In addition, the representatives of Macao enterprises in the areas of finance and industrial capacity have also been invited to attend. The discussions in the seminar will be concerning two specific themes: industrial capacity co-operation and financial collaboration. Through exchanging insights on new opportunities and innovative models for industrial capacity and financial collaboration, the seminar aims to intensify the interactions between the  relevant governments, enterprises, financial institutions and other stakeholders and look for a better way to use Macao, in its function as a service platform for commercial co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, to activate pragmatic reciprocation in related fields such as the manufacturing industry and infrastructure construction industry, so as to achieve prosperity and common development.
