Macao has convenient air, sea and land traffic networks which enable visitors from all over the world to come to Macao with ease.
With an objective of transforming Macao into a regional service platform, Macao has initiated an ambitious programme to develop its land, sea and air transport infrastructure.
Although the most prominent symbol of the infrastructure development in Macao, the international airport is not the only structure to consolidate Macao's objective in turning to an important regional service platform but also in becoming the gateway to southern China and the dynamic Guangdong Province - which accounts for 35% of China's foreign trade and 10% of its GDP. A container port, Macao-Hong Kong Terminal, the second Macao-Taipa Bridge, the third Macao-Taipa Bridge and a highway linking Macao to Guangzhou, reiterate that goal. The Lotus Bridge and the new border will increase even further the inter-dependence within the region and consolidate Macao's position as a strategic port.
The Airport
The Macao International Airport (MIA) operates twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring air transport operators maximum scheduling flexibility and convenience. Its world-class facilities and tourist services, its uncontested efficiency and speedy connections make it the easiest way to enter China and the Asia Pacific Region.
The Airport benefits from the proximity of two major economic centres: Zhuhai and Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, which account for almost 40% of China's export trade. Therefore, there is great market potential for the transportation of passengers and cargo by air between the Pearl River Delta and the rest of the world.
